been circling this one for a while. open weights are not open source piece lays out the vocabulary problem pretty cleanly, and the OSI definition is still where the argument lives.

counterpoint to myself: most people using the weights don't care what we call them, they care what they can ship. is the label fight actually changing what gets released?
