Questions about using the board
Can I read the board without an account?
Yes. The front page lists the categories and forums a guest is allowed to see. Open a forum to list its topics, then open a topic to read the posts. An account is what lets you publish, follow conversations, and use the parts of the board reserved for members.
How do I create an account?
Open registration and choose a username, a password, and the profile details the form asks for. If the board holds a new account until it is activated, you can ask for another activation message from the resend page.
How do I sign in?
Enter the username and password for your account. When the board offers a button for an outside identity provider, you can use that provider instead of typing a password.
How do I reset a forgotten password?
Open the password reset page and ask the board to send reset instructions for your account.
How do I start a topic or reply to one?
Sign in, open the forum that fits the conversation, and start a topic. To answer someone, open their topic and write a reply. A protected forum can ask for its own password before you enter, and some forums hold a new post until a moderator approves it.
How do I format a post?
Wrap words in short markers. [b] is bold, [i] is italic, [url] is a link, [quote] is a quotation, [code] is a code block, [list] together with [*] is a list, and [img] is an image. A link or image address has to begin with http:// or https://. The board prints your writing as text, so raw HTML is not treated as markup.
How do I search for a post?
Open search and enter words from the post, or the name of the person who wrote it. You may need to wait a short time before a different search.
How do I follow a conversation?
A member can follow a topic or a whole forum, and can bookmark a topic to find it again later. You can drop a follow or a bookmark from your account when you no longer want it.
How do private messages work?
A private message goes to the members you choose and stays in your message folders. It is not published as a topic on the board.
How do I report a post?
A member can report a post to the moderators and include a reason. Moderators review that report. Use a report when a post breaks the board rules.
Why is a forum hidden from me?
Each action can be allowed or refused separately for guests and for members. A guest receives only the guest allowances. After you sign in, the board applies your account and your groups. A protected forum can also require a password of its own.
How do I change my profile, avatar, or signature?
After you sign in, the account pages let you edit profile details, choose an avatar, and write a signature that can appear under your posts.
